What Are Injectables?

Cosmetic been injected in woman's head.

In the realm of aesthetic medicine, injectables comprise of any non-surgical treatments that are executed in the form of an injection for the purpose of rejuvenation. Neurotoxins and fillers are two of the most common types of injectable procedures. Neurotoxins weaken target muscles by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter that stimulates the muscles and ultimately soften wrinkle lines caused by muscle movement, particularly in the upper third of the face. The treatment effect of neurotoxins is realized within one to weeks after the procedure and lasts up to 3 months on average. Common neurotoxin brand names include Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®Filler injections are intended to restore volume as well as to fill in wrinkle lines or deeper folds in the face. Hyaluronic acid is the most common type of material found in fillers. Depending on the type of product used and the area of the face treated, the treatment effect of fillers ranges from 6 months to 2 years. Common filler brand names include Juvederm®, Restylane®, Radiesse®, and Belotero®. Each injectable procedure is uniquely designed and executed by Dr. Ho according to the anatomic findings and surgical goals of the individual patient.

Dr. Ho’s approach to Injectable Procedures

As a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Ho specializes exclusively in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures of the head and neck region. She possesses dedicated training and extensive experience in injectable procedures from one of the top facial plastic surgery fellowship programs in the country under mentor Dr. Steven Dayan, a world-renowned leading authority in injectable procedures. Dr. Ho is regionally known for her signature non-surgical procedures in facial contouring and jawline contouring and attracts patients from all over Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York to Philadelphia and Wayne for treatment. Dr. Ho dedicates ample time and effort to establish realistic goals for every patient. Her treatment philosophy is centered on producing results that are natural and conservative. Dr. Ho often performs injectables in a stepwise fashion across a series of visits to avoid overtreatment and obtains pre and post-treatment photographs throughout the process to allow for objective comparison. Every patient leaves her office refreshed and confident without the rest of the world knowing what was done. Dr. Ho pursues a cannula technique for filler injections as this technique minimizes the risks of bruising and swelling as well as vascular compromise. Dr. Ho understands the pain tolerance of every patient is different and incorporates topical and local anesthesia techniques into her injectable procedures to ensure each patient is as comfortable as possible. She also maintains an excellent hygienic protocol to avoid infection as well.

Injectables: Before and After

This beautiful female patient came to me for a facial contouring consultation, interested in non-surgical options to achieve a more V-shaped facial appearance. We pursued two syringes of filler to her cheeks and chin and Botox to her masseters to create a beautiful and natural as well as snatched result.
