What is Liquid Facelift?

Liquid facelift, or non-surgical facelift, is an injectable procedure designed to non-surgically rejuvenate the midface including the eyes and cheeks, jawline, and neck areas. Youthful faces commonly follow a more inverted pyramid appearance that includes good cheek and jaw definition. With the aging process, gravity forces over time flip the pyramid and bring about jowling (sagging of skin below the jawline) with decreased jaw definition, increased neck skin laxity, and neck muscle banding. It is important for patients interested in the liquid facelift procedure to understand that injectable procedures only help temporarily hide or soften these issues, as the skin and soft tissue changes in the midface, lower face, and neck can be most dramatically addressed with surgery. Therefore, the liquid facelift is not equivalent to facelift and neck lift surgery in terms of expected results. What should patients expect after Facelift and Neck Lift?

Each liquid facelift procedure is different and catered to the individual patient in terms of how much filler product is needed and where the filler is injected. Therefore, the extent of swelling and bruising that occurs after liquid facelift will vary by patient. There may be swelling or bruising at the injection sites or in the treated areas that is most often mild to moderate. Given that several syringes of filler are typically pursued in a liquid facelift procedure, significant post-treatment bruising and swelling is also possible and not overly concerning. Swelling and bruising is managed well with icing and head elevation for the first two days after the procedure. Bruised injection sites can be covered with concealer makeup as soon as 24 hours following the procedure. Patients should also avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for 24 hours. Post-treatment pain is usually not significant and may be managed with Tylenol as needed. The results of liquid facelift are typically observed immediately or after most of the immediate swelling has subsided. It is not uncommon for slight asymmetries to be observed initially that usually resolve by two weeks out when the treatment product has settled out and is in maximal effect. Dr. Ho seeks follow-up with her patients two weeks after each liquid facelift procedure to ensure that every patient is satisfied with their treatment outcome.

Depending on the type of product used and the amount of filler injected, the duration of effect from a liquid facelift may last 1 to 2 years with need for maintenance touch-up treatments every 3-6 months.

What type of patient is the ideal candidate for Liquid Facelift?

Facelift surgery redrapes and resuspends the skin and deeper tissues of the face and neck to restore a more youthful appearance. Surgery usually achieves more permanent results and may be considered advantageous from a long-term cost benefit analysis when compared against repeated injectable treatments.
