Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC:
This popular filler product restores volume to gaunt cheeks, bringing about a more youthful appearance. It is an FDA-approved filler for correction of age-related volume loss in the midface and for chin augmentation with results shown to last up to 2 years. Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC is one of Dr. Ho’s fillers of choice for cheek augmentation, chin augmentation, facial contouring, liquid facelift, and jawline contouring. Juvéderm® Ultra XC:

Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC:
This filler demonstrates a higher degree of cross-linking compared to Juvéderm® Ultra XC and therefore produces more robust results that have been demonstrated to last beyond 1 year. Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC is indicated for improving moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. This filler provides lips with subtle attractive definition and volume. Compared to Juvéderm® Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC, Vollure™ XC provides softer volume ideal for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and smile lines. Juvéderm® Volux™:
It is FDA-approved for adults over 18 years old with moderate to severe loss of jawline definition. This is a hyaluronic acid filler that is injected deeply into the facial tissues to enhance definition. It is indicated only for subcutaneous and supraperiosteal depth of injection. Results last up to 12-18 months.
Restylane® Lyft:
Restylane® Lyft gives hollow, sunken cheeks the lift they deserve by restoring volume and definition. It can also restore volume to the hands for a rejuvenated appearance. Restylane® Lyft is FDA-approved and indicated for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, cheek contouring, and hand rejuvenation with results shown to last up to 1 year. Dr. Ho frequently injects Restylane® Lyft and uses it as a workhorse filler for facial contouring, jawline contouring, cheek augmentation, and chin augmentation.
Restylane® -L:
Restylane-L contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic that numbs the treatment region. This makes the injection process more comfortable. Restylane® -L is indicated for the correction for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds including nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and smile lines as well as for lip augmentation. Dr. Ho uses Restylane®-L for treating these areas as well as a frequent filler of choice for improving tear trough deformity in eye rejuvenation.
Restylane® Refyne:
This filler is used to address surface wrinkles such as lipstick lines around the lips and is known for its smoother consistency. Treatment results have been shown to last up to 1 year. This filler was designed with XpresHAn Technology™ to provide natural-appearing results with flexibility and maintained natural expression. Dr. Ho utilizes Defyne for deeper, more etched nasolabial folds and marionette lines as well as cheek augmentation, jawline contouring, and chin augmentation.
Restylane® Kysse:
This is Restylane’s specialized lip filler supported by innovative technology that produces beautiful, natural results. It can also restore lip color and can smooth away wrinkles around the lips. Restylane® Kysse is indicated for lip augmentation and the correction of upper lip lines with results shown to last up to 1 year in the lips alone. Dr. Ho is increasingly using this filler for lip augmentation in her practice and has been impressed with the lip enhancement results she is achieving with Restylane® Kysse.
Restylane® Contour:
This filler is the newest product to join the Restylane® family and is FDA- approved for cheek augmentation and for shape or volume improvement in the midface. Restylane® Contour was designed with XpresHAn Technology™ to provide natural-appearing results with flexibility and maintained natural expression.
RHA® 3:
This hyaluronic acid filler is designed for injection into the mid-to-deep dermis for the correction of moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds including the nasolabial folds. Dr. Ho routinely uses this filler for the correction of tear trough deformity in eye rejuvenation, improvement of facial lines such as the nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines, and for lip augmentation.
RHA® 3:
This hyaluronic acid is injected into the mid-to-deep dermis for the correction of moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds. Dr. Ho utilizes this product for softening facial lines including the nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines, and for lip augmentation.
RHA® 4:
This hyaluronic acid is indicated for injection into the deep dermis to superficial subcutaneous tissue for the correction of moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds including the nasolabial folds. Dr. Ho often uses this filler for cheek augmentation, chin augmentation, and jawline contouring as well as for reduction of facial lines such as the nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines.
Belotero Balance®
Belotero Balance® is a hyaluronic acid filler that possesses a higher elasticity than other HA injectables, which aids in creating even distribution. It is used to address various facial wrinkle lines, including the nasolabial folds and parentheses lines. This filler product is approved for the correction of nasolabial folds with treatment results shown to last 6 months or longer. Dr. Ho frequently uses Belotero Balance® for correction of tear trough deformity in eye rejuvenation and improvement of finer, etched wrinkle lines of the face.
Belotero Balance® possesses a lower viscosity compared to the Juvederm® products, and is therefore much less likely to cause a Tyndall effect when treating delicate areas including very shallow wrinkles and the lower eyelid region. The Tyndall effect creates a slight bluish tint to the skin due to the filler’s proximity to the surface.

Radiesse®
This dermal filler product is composed of CaHA (calcium hydroxylapatite) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel. The microspheres form a structure in the skin tissues to create new volume. While this occurs, the tissues produce new collagen and elastin protein at a higher rate.
Radiesse® can be used to restore volume in a number of areas of the face, including the cheeks, chin, jawline, and temples. It is also an excellent choice for improving wrinkles such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, parentheses lines, and perioral lip lines. This filler product is approved for treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and lines and for hand rejuvenation. Dr. Ho commonly injects Radiesse® for facial contouring, jawline contouring, cheek augmentation, and chin augmentation where volume and definition are needed.
The Dermal Filler Treatment Session
At the start of a dermal filler treatment visit, the targeted areas will be carefully planned out and marked where needed. This will serve as a guide in order to make the injections as precise as possible. Next, a topical or local anesthetic will be administered to minimize pain or discomfort associated with injection. Finally, the injections will be delivered to the marked areas.
Dermal Filler Aftercare
Once your dermal filler injections have been performed, you will be free to return to your daily schedule. Aside from avoiding exercise and strenuous activity for 24 hours, there is no recovery time required. Many patients typically get these treatments done during their lunch breaks and then return to work.
A slight degree of redness, swelling, and bruising is normal and will fade shortly. To avoid exacerbating these issues, apply ice compresses and stay hydrated for the first 24 hours and do not drink alcohol or take blood-thinning medications for 24-48 hours after treatment. Tear Trough Filler: Before and After
This video demonstrates my patient evaluation and injection approach for tear trough filler. The appearance of dark circles under the eyes is often associated with volume loss in the lower eyelids and cheeks and may be due to genetics and facial aging. Filler injections are frequently utilized in eye rejuvenation to address the tear trough deformity as well as improve cheek volume and projection. I typically use a cannula technique to filler injection, as it is less traumatic and allows me to inject where the filler is needed in a broader area. Topical numbing cream and a vibrating device are used for the procedure to help make the patient feel as comfortable as possible. Filler results are seen immediately, with the final outcome noted at two weeks after the procedure.

I was so lucky and honored to meet Morgan and treat her to a Botox and filler cheek pop makeover as part of the December holiday makeover giveaway.
